Dance to the music of life

Do you know today 29th April is International Dance day 🙂

International Dance Day was introduced in 1982 by the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), a UNESCO partner NGO, and is celebrated on April 29 every year.

I know a lot of you will say every day should be a dance day…yup you are absolutely right but its something like celebrating Birthday.Something just to make a day special, something that tells you this was the day years back when you came to this world. or realised how important a particular cause was…

That one day keeps reminding you what not to forget 🙂

Dance is in our blood. every one can dance even those who say they can’t, they just don’t know it yet, but they are excellent dancers. Every thing and every one under the sun can dance 🙂

“Dance as if you can, because its in your heart to do soSTEVEN BELL 🙂

look at that man in the wheelchair listening to music, shaking his head, tapping his fingers on the arm of the chair, have you seen anyone dancing more beautifully.

dance is every time your soul sways to the music that soothes and makes it happy

look at that mother baking cake for her loved ones in the kitchen. how she sieves the flour, mixes egg and makes a  batter, puts it in the oven and switches on to another chore. Have you seen anyone dancing so rhythmically.

Dance is in every work done with dedication, practice and love.

look at the man carrying files, hoping from one desk to another.get in and out of the lift to deliver those files in time, and sometimes when no one is watching he slides in or out of the lift, just for fun

Dance is finding joy in your every day work.

look at the puppy wagging his tail, and with every wag its bum shakes, how cute is that

look at the kids playing in the park, spreading happy vibes all around

At the trees dancing to the tune of breeze no matter how scorching or freeing it is outside

Dance is everywhere

in everything

So dance or find your dance

Don’t wait for that perfect shoe

just be yourself and dance

Dance even if you are barefoot

dance in sickness and in health

dance for your friends and family

Dance to make that crying child smile

Dance to make a dull day bright

dance to the music of love

dance to the rhythm of life

dance cos you are alive

dance cos you got this chance

dance for today

dance cos YOU CAN

Wishing all of you a Happy dance day. may all of you find a reason to dance and find joy in everything you do 🙂

  1. I think my 1.75 year-old grandson knew it was International Dance Day, for he danced and bopped up a storm helping his mommy water the potted plants on the deck and patio at their home! I know the phrase,”Dance like nobody’s watching” may be overused, but I still love it. I dance with my dogs and cats and don’t care who sees driving by!

  4. I love this post, Soma, and have always loved dancing! When my husband and I first met, we used to go out dancing all the time…then kids came along and our dancing lessened, but it’s still in us. Occasionally, we’ll start dancing in the kitchen or living room and of course, in our early 50’s, our “kids” are mortified! Then again, I think they’re glad that we still can! 🙂 Thanks for a great post and I don’t know how I missed this! Hugs and Blessings to you! xo

ITs so beautiful that you and your hubby dance like that..really very sweet.
let the kids be shocked later they will remember these moments and smile or laugh….
..sometimes we break into tribal dance routine , just for fun and all three of us laugh like maniacs
Thanks for sharing such wonderful moments of your life….

  6. Wow wonderfully expressed! Never have I felt so good about dancing Soma! I have always considered myself a non-dancer..make me sing in the middle of the night, even if I am half-asleep, I can do it..but dance, nada! But this post of yours makes me realize theres dance in every little movement!

Moreover, as someone with close to zero talent in the art of coordinated movement of the anatomy (aka dance), I appreciate it all the more!

  14. Not critizing, but perhaps for those of us with two left feet you should have included: Dance as if you can, because its in your heart to do so. 🙂 More than once I have embarrassed wife and son by ‘busting’ a move in the kitchen.

  16. I absolutely love to dance. I do it all the time. When my children are out of sorts, we turn up the music and dance. It always brings smiles.

Nothing was a brilliant as seeing my seven-year-old teaching her brother correct dance hold at their sister’s wedding a few weeks ago. She asked the DJ to play something he could dance to!!

    Great post!
